Finestrat has today kicked off its 2026 Patron Saint Festivities in honour of Sant Bertomeu and the Santíssim Crist del Remei with “La Vespra”, a day in which music, joy and the participation of neighbours and visitors have starred in this first day of celebrations, which will last until next Monday, August 24th, Sant Bertomeu Day.
After the morning parade of the Comissió de Festes through Cala de Finestrat, announcing the start of the festivities and the subsequent ringing of bells in the Sant Bertomeu Church, the patron saint celebrations began this Thursday.

One of the highlights of the programme: the traditional arrepleglà de barracas, a real party in which music, colour and the desire to celebrate were calling each barraca to add it to a multitudinous parade. One by one, about 60 joined the procession until the streets of the historic center became the great stage for the beginning of the festivities.
This multitudinous “arreplegà” with more than 1,000 festeros and festeras, culminated in the Plaça de la Unió Europea where the Councilor for Festivities, Sara Llorca and the Mayor, Nati Algado, took the floor, who valued the work carried out during the last year by the La Xirimbela Festival Commission, highlighting their involvement and dedication to make possible a program that keeps the traditions of Finestrat alive. “I want to thank the Festival Commission from the bottom of my heart for all the effort, enthusiasm and hours of work behind each event. The festivities are possible thanks to many people who work for months so that Finestrat can enjoy such important days for our identity and our traditions,” said Algado.
The mayor encouraged neighbors, families and visitors to actively participate in the festivities and to come to Finestrat during these days to enjoy its atmosphere, its gastronomy, its traditions. “We invite everyone to come to Finestrat, to share our festivities and to live them with us. We want our streets to be a meeting point and that those who visit us also feel part of this celebration,” he added.
For its part, the Comissió de Festes La Xirimbela surprised with an innovative audiovisual montage of video mapping on the façade of the Llar and with a previously recorded proclamation, in which all the members took the floor, alternating with well-known musical themes such as “Superestrella”, “Viva la Vida” or “La manta al coll”.

The first day of festivities culminates tonight, from 11:30 p.m., with the Great Vertigo Macro-party, also in the Plaça de la Unió Europea.
Tomorrow, Friday 21st, Day of the Holy Christ of the Remei
The Patron Saint Festivities will continue tomorrow, Friday, August 21, with one of its big days: the Day of the Santíssim Crist del Remei. and one of the most emotional acts of the festivities: the traditional descent of the Santísimo Cristo del Remedio from the Hermitage to the parish church of Sant Bertomeu where it will remain during the 4 days of festivities. There, from 12:00 p.m., the mass sung by the Finestrat Choral Group will be officiated.
There will also be parades, bandeta, gastronomy, surprises such as the Fiesta that La Xirimbela has prepared from 4:30 p.m. in the Plaça de la Unió Europea (it is recommended to go with glasses, helmet, hat, costume or old clothes to enjoy this festive proposal).
And one of the highlights of the day will come at 8:00 p.m. with the Offering of Flowers, which will depart from the Glorieta to the Church. Friday’s program will conclude at midnight with the performance of the Titanic Orchestra, in the Plaça de la Unió Europea. With this program, Finestrat continues until Monday 24 with its Patron Saint Festivities that maintain its traditions as protagonists and, especially, the participation of neighbors, shacks and visitors in the different scheduled activities.
