Distinctions
Blue flag
Cala de Finestrat won the "Blue Flag" award for environmental quality in 1987. Since then, and thanks to the great efforts made in management and environmental matters, it has been renovating it year after year.
A blue flag beach, such as Cala de Finestrat, accredits a correct model of management, cleanliness and environmental awareness of the population, local authorities and users. It is also a guarantee of the hygienic-sanitary quality of the beach and the waters, as well as the absence of possible sources of contamination.
The blue flag is an award for environmental quality, awarded by the European Foundation for Environmental Education (F.E.E.E.), formed by a group of experts from the Committee on Environmental Education of the Council of Europe. It began to be granted in France in 1985 and in 1987 it was extended to other countries.
Since then, the Blue Flag Campaign has been carried out annually throughout Europe. In Spain, the entity in charge of examining compliance with the requirements for obtaining and maintaining the aforementioned distinction is the Environmental and Consumer Association (A.D.E.A.C.), an organization that is a member of the F.E.E.E.
Specifically, the Blue Flag Campaign is based on four fundamental aspects: water quality; compliance with environmental legislation on the coastline and integrated planning and management of the same; cleaning and services related to the safety of citizens and, finally, information and environmental education.

Water and sand analysis in Cala de Finestrat
From July 1 to September 15 we publish the weekly report with the results of the analysis of bathing water and visual inspections of water and sand carried out in Cala de Finestrat from the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment, Climate Change and Rural Development through the Program for Control and Surveillance of the Quality of Bathing Water of the Valencian Community.
These reports can be consulted on the information panel located on the beach.

Green Flag Responsible Municipality
Finestrat has been distinguished by the Federation of Independent Users and Consumers (FICU) in three of the four existing categories (stars) of the "Green Flag Responsible Municipality" award. These stars are awarded to waste treatment, cleaning and gardening, water management, environmental education and citizen participation.
This recognition marks a very relevant progress in the environmental management of the municipality since Finestrat held this award with one star (years 2004, 2005 and 2006 for waste treatment) and in June 2008 it has achieved the Green Flag of 3 stars. A distinction that, in this category, has only been achieved by 14 municipalities in all of Spain.

Golden Broom
The "Golden Broom" is a recognition granted by ATEGRUS (Technical Association for Waste Management, Urban and Industrial Toilets and the Environment) which specifically rewards the cleaning and waste collection service as well as the implementation of information campaigns aimed at raising awareness among citizens about the importance of recycling.
Campaigns
The Department of the Environment carries out throughout the year different information campaigns and activity programs aimed at raising awareness among citizens, from an early age, about the need to conserve our natural environment.
