13/05/2026FITUR: The Museu de Finestrat achieves the Q for Tourist Quality and the Tourist Info of La Cala, the S for Sustainability
13/05/2026Challenge overcome. The City Council of Finestrat complies with the diagnostic report that accredits the implementation of the Smart Tourist Destination (DTI) methodology. It is a commitment made by the council when it signed its adhesion to the national DTI network of the Secretary of State for Tourism. The process has just ended. Therefore, the City Council already has the Diagnostic Report prepared by SEGITTUR.

“Getting here has been possible thanks to the collaboration of all the municipal areas and the tourism business fabric of the Finestrat destination,” said the Councilor for Tourism Donna R. Plummer, “who have contributed to providing the necessary information to evaluate our destination based on 97 requirements and 261 indicators of the set of key axes of a DTI.”
Finestrat becomes an Adhered Tourist Destination that certifies that it has begun the implementation of the DTI model, which represents an important step to be part of the group of destinations at the forefront of tourism development and with a future strategy based on governance, sustainability, accessibility, innovation and technology as the backbones. This diagnosis is valid until December 31, 2027.
It should be remembered that the Finestrat City Council has been part of the National Network of Smart Tourist Destinations since its constitution in 2019, a sign of the consistory’s commitment to the transformation of the destination that has finally materialized through the implementation of the Smart Tourist Destination methodology.
This action has been carried out thanks to a grant of €17,833.29 from European Next Generation EU funds for the DTI SEGITTUR diagnostic service contract.

Smart Tourist Destination
ProgramThe Smart Tourist Destination programme is a project promoted by the Secretary of State for Tourism (SETUR) and managed by the State Mercantile Society for the Management of Innovation and Tourism Technologies (SEGITTUR), which aims to contribute to improving the competitiveness of tourist destinations and the quality of life of their residents by focusing on five areas of action: governance, innovation, technology, sustainability and accessibility.
This initiative, which emerged from the National and Comprehensive Tourism Plan 2012-2015, generates the appropriate mechanisms to facilitate the rapid incorporation of innovations in destinations.
The Smart Tourist Destination is defined as an innovative tourist destination, consolidated on a cutting-edge technological infrastructure, which guarantees the sustainable development of the tourist territory, accessible to all, facilitating the interaction and integration of the visitor with the environment and increasing the quality of their experience in the destination and the improvement of the resident’s quality of life.
To achieve these objectives, the DTI programme promotes the implementation of a management model that takes into account the transversality of tourism activity and the differentiating characteristics of each destination. It is based on a diagnostic methodology, based on 97 requirements and 261 indicators, which results in a system of recommendations and a monitoring system, which make up the fundamental elements of the model, allowing a process of continuous improvement of the management of the destination adapted to the present and future challenges of tourism
