Finestrat establishes CECOPAL to organize preventive device against the wind storm for the weekend

The mayor of Finestrat, Nati Algado, presides this morning over the CECOPAL (Municipal Operational Coordination Center) to plan preventive measures due to the forecast of strong gusts of wind for this Saturday, February 14. This meeting has also served as a coordination of all the security devices, emergencies and technical services for the weekend, in the face of possible incidents that may arise.

For the moment, the most significant incident has been the closure of the CV-758 from 3:00 p.m. yesterday, in both directions of traffic, so that Red Eléctrica could carry out work aimed at securing elements of the high-voltage network that presented a risk of falling. The team of operators continues to work and, for the moment, the road is still closed. At the moment, it is not possible to circulate from Finestrat to Benidorm, nor from Benidorm to Finestrat by Vía Terra Natura/Waste Plant. The forecast is that traffic will reopen when the work is finished, around noon on Friday. The mayor, Nati Algado, was yesterday in the intervention area to learn first-hand about the work and guarantee communication to the residents of the affected areas in the surroundings of La Tapià Marraix. Other incidents as a result of the wind storm recorded these days have been the fall of branches on roads, the fall of tiles or displaced containers.

The mayor, Nati Algado, presided over this CECOPAL, also constituted by the Councilor for Security, Beatriz Quintillán, the First Deputy Mayor, Víctor Darío LLinares and the Councilor for the Environment, Estela Álvarez, in addition to the Heads of Municipal Areas of Security, Technical Services, Social Services, Civil Works, Urban Planning, Education and Sports, among others.

“At 8:15 a.m. we have constituted CECOPAL because although we are on yellow alert for winds, the forecast for tomorrow, Saturday 14, is that these conditions will worsen with strong gusts of wind that can register peaks of more than 100km/h. For this reason, we ask for maximum caution and self-protection from citizens: avoid parks, gardens, wooded areas, construction areas, stay away from windows, walls, roofs… And be attentive to the official channels to avoid risks,” said the mayor.

At 11:45 a.m. the yellow alert is raised to ORANGE and the preventive measures adopted are automatically activated:

❌ Closure of parks, dog parks, children’s games, gardens and any facility with outdoor activity owned by the municipality (cemetery, recreational areas, etc.)
❌ Cessation of outdoor teaching activities, outdoor sports and activities in La Foia sports area. This measure includes the interior of the pavilion (Saturday 14)
❌ Prohibition of making fires and always extinguishing cigarette butts and matches.

✅ Teaching activity in Educational Centers is maintained with the suspension of recess in playgrounds.
♀️ Avoid commuting and outdoor activities.

* Other spaces if the Local Police consider it necessary.

* Check homes so that there are no cornices, balconies and facades in poor condition that could cause debris and debris to fall.
* Close doors and windows to avoid drafts that can lead to breaking and falling glass.
* Secure elements such as awnings, blinds and antennas.
* Remove pots, cages and any object that may fall into the street.
