More than one hundred athletes from countries around the world are participating these days in Finestrat in the III International Taekwondo Training Camp

The international campus brings together world and European champions and serves as preparation for major events such as the Olympic Grand Prix in Korea in which the athletes from Finestrat, Violeta Díaz and Jairo Agenjo, compete

Finestrat has become an international benchmark for taekwondo these days with the celebration of the third edition of the International Taekwondo Training Camp, a summer camp that brings together more than a hundred athletes from a dozen countries.

The initiative is promoted by the Finestrat Taekwondo Club and has the participation of Simón Marquina, renowned international coach, together with Juan José González Pastor, teacher and coordinator of the local organizing club.

Over several days, about one hundred athletes between the ages of 12 and 26 from countries such as Belgium, France, Italy, Germany, Greece, Romania, Moldova, the United Arab Emirates and the United States participate in intense training sessions aimed at high competition.

The Councilor for Sports, Beatriz Quintillán, has shown her satisfaction with the extraordinary reception that this third edition is having, already consolidated as a reference event in the international calendar. In addition to the increase in participants compared to previous years, the high sporting level of the attendees, including world champions, European champions and elite athletes with regular presence in international competitions, stood out.

The campus is especially focused on the preparation of important sporting commitments in the coming months. Among them is the Women’s World Championship to be held in China, an event for which the Finna-based athlete Violeta Díaz is preparing. Likewise, the work carried out in Finestrat will serve as preparation for the Korean Grand Prix, scheduled for September, in which both Violeta Díaz and Jairo Ajenjo will compete with the aim of continuing to add points in the international ranking for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

In addition to the technical and tactical work on the tatami, the meeting favors the exchange of experiences and knowledge between athletes from different countries and cultures, strengthening the values of coexistence, respect and improvement inherent to taekwondo.

With this third edition of the International Taekwondo Training Camp, Finestrat reinforces its position as one of the great references of national and international taekwondo. At the same time, the event once again demonstrates the potential of the binomial sport and tourism as a tool for promoting the municipality, attracting athletes, coaches and companions that make Finestrat a first-class international showcase.
