Committed to culture and local associations: renewal of the agreement with the “Agrupació Coral de Finestrat”
24/04/2026On “Book Day”, April 23rd, Finestrat dawns in a very special way to celebrate the passion for reading. With the slogan “Arrive for feeling” from today, neighbors and visitors will discover reading points that are here to stay. They are wooden houses, distributed throughout several spaces in the town, urbanizations, Cala, historic center, to encourage the habit of reading and also of doing it outdoors.
These points will be permanently at the Terra Marina Social Centre, at the entrance to the Golf Bahía urbanisation (junction between Carrer Tenerife and Carrer Illa Mallorca), at the Balcó de Finestrat children’s playground; in the children’s playground on Carrer Serra Cortina (historic center); and on the same beach, at the point called “A sea of free”. The Councilor for Culture, Héctor Baldó, was there, along with the Councilor for Beach, Estela Álvarez.
In the words of the Councilor for Culture, Héctor Baldó, “the day arrives. Today is the Day of the Book, Sant Jordi. We have been celebrating it in Finestrat with the “Llibres Lliures” campaign that put more than 100 titles into circulation on April 1. And as we said in the presentation, this year there are surprises such as the “Llegir per a sentir” initiative. This is how we have dawned today, April 23, with new spaces that invite reading in key points such as the beach and playgrounds of urbanizations and the town. What do we intend with this? Invite the pleasure of reading outdoors. From La Mar de Llibres, on the same beach of Finestrat; there will also be reading houses in Terra Marina, Golf Bahía, Balcón de Finestrat and the historic center. At the same time, we encourage exchange because they can take a book and, in exchange, leave another. Our will is to encourage reading. And what better day to do it than this April 23.”
For these reading houses from the Municipal Library they provide 42 titles that will be distributed among the different booths, with different genres and aimed at different audiences. There will be children’s, youth, adult literature and in several languages, Spanish, Valencian and also English.
In addition, for all those people who visit the Municipal Library “Els nostres Mestres” this Thursday, April 23, there will be a detail “because I don’t imagine a Sant Jordi sense llibre i sense rosa”.
“Contes desbaratats”. April 23. International Book Day
Coinciding with this anniversary, the date on which 3 greats of universal literature died, Miguel de Cervantes, William Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, this Thursday 23rd there will be a storytelling in Valencia, promoted by AVIVA Finestrat: “Contes desbaratats” by the company Disparatario.
“Què passa quan les plantes creixen més del compte? And if the drawings disappear from the books … què faries? Dante the gegant is embrutant the planet! .. Or hasn’t she been there? Martina tea for the monsters… How will he overcome? La resrepa a aquestes preguntes i moltes més en “Contes Desbaratats”. Contes contats amb titelles, màgia, disfresses, Kamishibai, teatre d’ombres i música en viu.
It will be this Thursday 23, at 6:00 p.m. Organized by AVIVA Finestrat (Department of Culture). Free admission.
Llibres Lliures Campaign: until 30 April
Remember that until April 30 the “Llibres Lliures” campaign is still underway. An initiative of the Department of Culture that since April 1 has put in free circulation more than 100 books from its bibliographic collections. These titles can be found in municipal offices and also in the establishments in the historic center and La Cala that have joined the campaign”. “As its motto says, “On em veges, agafa’m i deixan’n un altre”. So anyone can take one of these books in exchange for leaving another, thus promoting a very enriching exchange for everyone,” explained the Councilor for Culture, Héctor Baldó.
