
Work continues on the green boulevard of the Penya de Finestrat with the adaptation and signage of the Museum’s car park
21/07/2026From the Department of Sports of the City of Finestrat they report that the 49th edition of the oldest beach volleyball tournament in Spain opens registrations. As every August 15, La Cala de Finestrat brings together great figures of this sport at national and international level in this tournament organized by the Volleyball Federation of the Valencian Community with the collaboration of the Finestrat Volleyball Club and the Finestrat City Council

“After the resounding success of last year, with one of the most spectacular editions of the tournament in its history, this year, it is expected to at least repeat or exceed the figures of the last edition. There were more than 60 teams, one of the best men’s semi-finals in history and a final with more than 500 spectators in La Cala de Finestrat. We are facing a Tournament where the best of the national and even international scene comes to Cala de Finestrat to play this men’s and women’s 4×4 on August 15, which has been a classic in our Cala de Finestrat for almost 5 decades”, said the Councilor for Sports, Beatriz Quintillán.
Last year’s edition was also one of the most international with players from Colombia, Italy, Romania, Argentina, Cuba, Lithuania, Venezuela, Ukraine, Mauritius, Chile, Brazil, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Hungary, Cape Verde, United States, Finland, France, Paraguay.
Among the great figures who were in the 2025 tournament and are expected for this 2026 are Erika Kliokmanaite, player representing Lithuania; the European and world champion, Raúl Mesa, Olympian at the 2008 Beijing Olympics; the Olympic medalist in Athens 2004, Javier Bosma; Igor Hernández, runner-up in the Pan American Games and Olympian in London 2012; Raya Tsenova and Vili Tsenova, players representing Bulgaria competing on the world circuit; Daniel Moreno and Roberto San Félix, recent winners of the Beach PRO Tour Futures World Tour event in Poland; national players competing on the FIVB international circuit such as Oscar Jimenez, Pablo Perez, Nazaret Florian, Adriana Serrano, Elba Paez and Daniela Andreu; players who are currently part of the Spanish U21 and U19 national team; international teams such as the Venezuelan national team and the Hungarian national team that are making their
preparation in Spain; players of Super League 1 and Super League 2
Registration will be open from this Monday, July 20 until August 10.
All registrations will be made through the Volleyball Federation of the Valencian Community on its website or in Beachliga.

It should be remembered that La Cala will vibrate during 3 consecutive days of beach volleyball tournaments. The competition starts on August 14 with the 4×4 mixed tournament; on Saturday 15 will be the Dean Tournament, with great figures together with amateur players; and on Sunday 16 the finals of the A2 circuit of the Valencian Community will be played in which the best couples will represent the Valencian Community in the Spanish Senior A2 Championship.
