Finestrat, training headquarters for police officers throughout the province to detect drugs while driving through the “drug test”
04/05/2026“It is a commitment of the legislature. And soon the works begin.” This was pronounced by the Mayor, Nati Algado, from the municipal plot where, shortly, the work of the 2nd Municipal Nursery School of Finestrat will begin. Nestled in the area of urbanizations, between Avenida Sevilla, where the CEIP Balcó de Finestrat is located, and Avenida Barcelona. The first local authority was there together with the Councilor for Urban Planning, Víctor Darío Llinares, to announce that the work is awarded and, therefore, “very soon the work will begin”.
“It is one of the great commitments of this legislature. And it is already beginning to be a reality. The work of the 2nd Municipal Nursery School of Finestrat with more than 100 places for children under 3 years of age has already been awarded. Very soon the works will begin right in the center of the urbanizations, a few meters from the Balcó de Finestrat school and less than 500 meters from the Secondary Institute that is already being built. A commitment to our families, to conciliation, to be by the side of our neighbors, attending to a demand that was necessary for Finestrat,” said the mayor. “It is a very important investment, €1.8 million, which was approved in the budget for 2026. Budgets designed for our neighbors, in their needs and that are a clear example of this government’s commitment to education and conciliation in this first stage of childhood”.
The 2nd Finestrat Nursery School will have more than 110 places for babies under 3 years old. The building will have a single rectangular floor and pedestrian access is planned from Sevilla Street and Barcelona Avenue. The School will have 8 classrooms: 2 for students from 0 to 2 years old; 4 classrooms for 1 and 3 year olds; and two other classrooms for 2-3 year olds.” We are talking about a total of 116 places to respond to the demand in this sensitive and important schooling group such as babies from 0 to 3 years old”. The building will have a multipurpose room, kitchen, multipurpose classroom, toilets, warehouse, lobby, passage room and patios with a minimum area of 75m2.
This educational infrastructure represents an investment of €1.8 million by the City Council. And the construction, awarded to Construcciones y Movimientos Ovisa SL, has an expected execution period of 14 months from its start.
It should be remembered that Finestrat already has a Municipal Nursery School in the historic center (Serra Cortina street) with 38 places. In addition, the two educational centers have a classroom for 2-year-old children. “We are now taking a very important step in the field of education in this expanding area. We have a Infant and Primary school “Balcó de Finestrat”. We have under construction what will be our first Secondary School. And, shortly, the works of the 2nd Municipal Nursery School will begin”.
