The Finestrat Town Council has taken a decisive step to improve the well-being of the educational community with an investment of €1.2 million for the installation of air conditioning and ventilation systems in the two primary schools, CEIP Balcó de Finestrat and CEIP Puig Campana. At today’s plenary session, the council approved the allocation of this expenditure, with €700,000 earmarked for this year and €580,261.15 for the next fiscal year.
“In today’s plenary session, we addressed the installation of air conditioning in the two schools, Puig Campana and Balcó de Finestrat. This investment, totaling approximately €1.3 million, aims to ensure that our preschool and primary school children, as well as all teaching staff, can carry out their daily activities in the best possible conditions, taking into account the increasingly frequent and prolonged heat waves,” stated Mayor Nati Algado at the end of the session. “We also approved the updated Forest Fire Prevention Plan because it is essential to protect the forests and the urban-forest interface zones—those urban-forest interface perimeters near residential areas—which needed to be included.”
Local Council for Children and Adolescents (CLIA)
Furthermore, the creation of the Local Council for Children and Adolescents (CLIA) has been approved. This new participatory body will effectively incorporate the voices of children and adolescents in municipal matters that affect their daily lives. “We adults have to learn to listen. And we have to give children a voice. That’s why we approved the CLIA regulations, so that children and adolescents can tell us how they want and how they see Finestrat.”
José Vicente Algado. Finestrat Escut d’Or
The council unanimously approved the awarding of the “Escut d’Or de Finestrat” to José Vicente Algado Climent during its plenary session. With an extraordinary professional career as a conductor, developed both in Spain and abroad, José Vicente Algado continues to maintain his special connection with Finestrat as principal conductor of the Agrupació Coral and also as a member of the Centre Musical Puig Campana.
“We want to recognize her extraordinary professional career in the world of music and for having taken the name of Finestrat wherever she goes with the presentation of the ‘Escut d’Or’ on October 9, Dia de la nostra Comunitat,” concluded the Mayor, Nati Algado. (PRESS OFFICE.30.9.2026)
