Finestrat offers families support to manage the application for school enrolment in Infant and Primary
06/05/2026The City Council of Finestrat already has its first Local Diversity Plan, an instrument of analysis and strategic planning promoted by the Department of Equality, which allows to know the situation of diversity in the municipality, identify needs, resources, challenges, inequalities and opportunities. With all this, the basis is established to design actions in the field of diversity, inclusion and coexistence.
“We are a pioneering City Council because we have already approved our First Local Diversity Plan. It is a strategic tool that presents us with an X-ray of the current situation of diversity in Finestrat. This diagnostic phase is key to taking action and designing the most appropriate actions to respond to the needs detected in this initial diagnosis. In short, it is about putting on the table the resources and services to strengthen social cohesion and respect for the rights of all people,” said the Councilor for Equality, María Teresa Pérez.
The Plan encompasses the entire resident population, with special attention to those groups that, due to origin, age, sexual or gender identity, functional diversity, socioeconomic situation or other factors, may be in situations of greater vulnerability or risk of discrimination.
Within the framework of Diversity, the mayor listed transversal actions to promote inclusion, accessibility and coexistence “because it is about preventing anyone from being left behind or at risk of discrimination.” Among the examples, the municipal courses of Spanish and Valencian Education for residents of other nationalities; workshops to overcome the digital divide in the case of the elderly, intergenerational workshops such as those promoted by Equality or Youth to strengthen ties between different age groups; co-education sessions to promote values such as tolerance and respect from an early age; the generation of safe spaces at public and leisure events with “Violet Points”, the “Map of Assets for Health” with a photograph of the entire network of spaces for health and well-being in Finestrat; “in addition to making visible specific days such as the International LGBTIQ+ Pride Day itself every June 28”.
This Local Diversity Plan was approved in the last ordinary plenary session and will be in force until 2029. “Therefore, it is not a closed document, but a flexible Plan that we will adapt to the reality of our municipality”.
To prepare the Plan, the City Council of Finestrat has had the support of the Generalitat Valenciana through a grant of € 4,000 from the Ministry of Housing, Employment, Youth and Equality, within the call for subsidies for the promotion of citizen integration aimed at entities that make up the local Administration, for the realization of the Local Diversity Plan of Finestrat.
