28/09/2026Finestrat will hire 5 people for fire prevention and forest maintenance through LABORA’s “EMERGE” program
30/09/2026The workshop will take place on Wednesday, October 7th and will combine history and creativity at the Finestrat Youth Center.
The Department of Childhood and Youth and AVIVA Finestrat, Office for the Promotion of Valencian, have prepared a workshop dedicated to Queen Violant, an activity aimed at boys and girls within the framework of “Nou d’Octubre” that will allow them to discover, in a fun and participatory way, the figure of this important woman linked to the history of the Crown of Aragon.
Queen Violant (or Violante of Hungary) was the second wife of King James I the Conqueror, queen consort of the Crown of Aragon between 1235 and 1251. She stood out in her historical period for not adopting the role of a passive queen consort, but rather acted as the key confidante, political advisor and right hand of King James I, even actively participating in the strategic negotiations for the surrender of Valencia in 1238.
“An essential woman in our history, an emblem of culture, identity, and pride for all Valencians, Finestrat dedicates this workshop to her on Wednesday, October 7th, in the afternoon. Aimed at children and young people, it will be an educational and creative activity that will allow participants to approach, in a simple and participatory way, this female figure who was key in our history.”
The workshop will be structured in two parts. First, AVIVA Finestrat will give a brief explanation, adapted to the participants, about Queen Violant, highlighting her historical significance and explaining that she was the wife of James I the Conqueror, King of the Crown of Aragon. The aim is for children to learn about some aspects of her life and to connect with this historical figure in a simple and engaging way.
Next comes the most creative part of the workshop, where participants will create various royal-themed items using EVA foam and other materials. Crowns, bracelets, and other accessories can be personalized with stickers, glitter, and other decorative elements.
The activity will be adapted to the ages of the participants and will be divided into two groups. The first group, at 5:30 p.m., made up of boys and girls aged 3 to 6, will have a more guided and dynamic activity, in which they will make their own crowns and will also be able to color a portrait of Queen Violant.
The second group at 6:30 p.m., made up of participants aged 6 to 12, will create crowns and bracelets inspired by royalty and will be able to decorate them freely using the different materials available.
To participate, prior booking is required at agendafinestrat.es
With this proposal, the City Council seeks to ensure that all participants learn about the figure of Queen Violant and, at the same time, enjoy a practical activity adapted to their ages and abilities, combining historical dissemination, creativity and fun.
