Finestrat brings the figure of Queen Violant closer to children and young people within the framework of the Nou d’Octubre
28/09/2026The Finestrat Town Council continues to expand and improve public spaces dedicated to leisure, sports, and community life, with new projects that adapt these spaces to the needs and demands of local residents. One of the most recent projects has taken place in the Terra Marina residential area, where the children’s playground has been renovated and a calisthenics park has been created for outdoor exercise.
From this new facility, the Mayor of Finestrat, Nati Algado , stated that “a key tool for us is listening to the needs of our citizens. That’s why, at the Family Festival held in June, we conducted a survey to gather their feedback, their feelings, and which areas they felt we should address. These proposals for sports areas and community spaces in various residential developments have emerged from that survey. We can now announce that in Terra Marina, we have renovated this children’s playground and created a new sports area with this calisthenics park.”
Details of the performance.
At Terra Marina, the existing playground has been renovated with the installation of a new play tower featuring a climbing area and slide, as well as new safety surfacing. The new space covers approximately 30 square meters.
Next to this children’s playground, the City Council has created a new calisthenics area of approximately 65 square meters, equipped with various pieces of equipment for exercise, including two abdominal benches. The facility is designed to be inclusive, as it also includes elements adapted for people with reduced mobility.
The entire area has continuous safety rubber paving, both to improve comfort during sports practice and to guarantee suitable conditions of use.
The combined investment for these actions amounts to 26,000 euros and includes a grant from Agenda 2030. Furthermore, this intervention responds to proposals gathered during public consultations held at the 1st Family Festival last June.
More spaces for sport and leisure
This project complements the work the City Council is currently carrying out on another municipal plot opposite Balcón de Finestrat, where a former playground is being transformed into a new calisthenics area. Similarly, a multi-sports court is being built in this area, thus expanding the range of public spaces dedicated to physical activity and outdoor recreation.
“The works are already underway. They will be completed in the coming days. The area of intervention is the park located on the plot directly opposite the CEIP Balcó de Finestrat school, in the highest part of the plot, which is also close to the high school. There, we will install another calisthenics park, as well as benches and tables. This is our commitment to continue improving public spaces so that children, young people, families, and seniors can enjoy them close to their homes, while also promoting outdoor sports, healthy habits, and community life,” concluded Mayor Nati Algado.
