24/03/2026Great runners will meet in Finestrat to compete in the Regional Championship of this specialty
Last days of registration to crown the magical mountain of Finestrat on Sunday, March 29. It is the Puig Campana Vertical Kilometre, a unique test because there is no other kilometre in the Valencian Community with such an accentuated slope, 1,020 m. of positive slope and at such a short distance from the sea.
This competition has, once again, the support of the City Council and the Federation of Sports of Muntanya and Climbing of the Valencian Community, by hosting the Regional Championship of Vertical Kilometer, a title that this event has held uninterruptedly since 2008.

The start will take place from the Plaça de la Unió Europea on Sunday, March 29, at 9:00 a.m. From that point the runners face a neutralized section of 1.55 kilometers and 115 meters of positive elevation gain to the Font del Molí, where the official time of the Vertical Kilometer begins to count. It is a direct ascent to the summit of Puig Campana, along 3.65 kilometres and 1,020 metres of positive elevation gain.
So far there are more than 170 runners registered. As for the great figures, the current regional champion of the specialty Hanan Et Tabaa has confirmed their participation and, among others, Emili Sellés, Ignacio Cardona and the Italian Fabio Ruga.
It is worth remembering the absolute record achieved by the Italian Urban Zemmer, a runner who crowned the Puig Campana in 35 minutes in 2011.
From the Department of Sports, the head of the area, Beatriz Quintillán, encouraged to take advantage of these last days of registration to take on the challenge “and enjoy the sporting atmosphere of Sunday, March 29, coinciding with Palm Sunday”.
Registrations for the KV Puig Campana Finestrat can be completed until March 24th at https://www.mychip.es/e/campionat-autonomic-de-kv-femecv-2026-finestrat
AND ALSO, ON SATURDAY, MARCH 28, PUIG CAMPANA FINESTRAT INCLUSIVE CHALLENGE
Nothing is impossible if you work, prepare and take on a challenge with a good team.
The Inclusive Club NI + NI – IGUALES, from Alicante, has the challenge of climbing to the top of Puig Campana. It will be next Saturday, March 28 and will start from the Font del Molí in Finestrat.
This group has been doing outstanding work in the field of sport and inclusion for several years now.
NI + NI – IGUALES is made up of people with extraordinary physical abilities, including trekking, cycling, mountaineering, etc., but distinctively and unlike other groups, it includes people with various disabilities.

The whole team has a common goal: to challenge themselves and show that barriers are just obstacles that can be overcome.
With these challenges, they want not only to make visible the difficulties that people with disabilities often face in their daily lives, but also to inspire, challenge and encourage others to overcome their own limits.
This group has already completed numerous challenges over the years, including El Mulhacén, Teide, Trail Solidari and Toubkal in Morocco.
More recently, at the end of July 2025, they completed an extremely complex challenge in Iceland.
For them, it is not only about reaching summits, but also about raising awareness about the capacity of people with disabilities. Initiatives that benefit the participants, which also create a positive impact on society, promoting acceptance, understanding and fraternity between people.
