25/03/2026“THE CONSERVATION AND ADAPTATION OF PUIG CAMPANA IS ONE OF THE MOST AMBITIOUS AND IMPORTANT TASKS FOR OUR MOUNTAIN, ONE OF THE MOST REPRESENTATIVE OF THE VALENCIAN COMMUNITY” SAID THE MAYOR, NATI ALGADO
1,410 meters, a mountain recognized from different parts of the province. An attraction for hikers, athletes and mountaineers, Puig Campana has been, is and will be one of the most emblematic natural icons of the Valencian Community, recognized and attracted by visitors from the Community, Spain and abroad.
That is why its conservation and maintenance work are of vital importance.
Work is currently being carried out on the refurbishment of the recreational area of the Font del Molí with the construction of masonry walls and the change of the wooden railings that surround this entire space.
Today these actions have been personally seen by the Regional Secretary of Environment and Territory, Sabina Goretti Galindo Benito, the Director of the Serra Gelada Natural Park, Ángel Enguix together with the mayor Nati Algado, the Councilor for the Environment, Estela Álvarez and other members of the municipal corporation.
“LThe Ministry of the Environment is committed and will continue to be committed to the conservation and maintenance of these protected natural spaces such as Puig Campana. In fact, the forestry brigade of the Ministry will continue to work to value these itineraries as sports and tourist resources” indicated the Regional Secretary of Environment and Territory, Sabina Goretti Galindo Benito.
For her part, the mayor Nati Algado has highlighted that “we are one of the most important environmental icons of the Valencian Community. In the last two years, thanks to the Generalitat, we have adapted what is known as the circular path that goes around the entire mountain. And in the future we will continue to act for the improvement of a place of great influence. For three years, and for the first time in many years, action has been taken on Puig Campana, but it is also done jointly with the Generalitat, the Directorate of the Serra Gelada Natural Park, to which Puig Campana belongs, to rehabilitate one of the areas that receives the most visitors per year. The maintenance, adaptation and improvement of equipment and trails or recreational areas such as this one is essential. Now we want to work on the forest tracks for better access in case of emergency for firefighters or rescue teams. Puig Campana is part of our cultural and natural heritage and we have to take care of it from the Ministry, from the City Council, but also from all those people who enjoy it.”
It should be remembered that an example of the rich heritage of Puig Campana is the cataloguing of its entire environment as a Landscape of Regional Relevance PRR 22 Puig Campana and Ponotx, a space in which unique environmental and geomorphological characteristics converge. Puig Campana is also part of the Aitana, Serrella and Puig Campana SCI, included in the Natura 2000 Network. In addition, it is listed as a special protection area for birds (SPA).
