24/03/2026The mayor, Nati Algado and the Councilor for Sports, Beatriz Quintillán, received the members of the Benidorm Firefighters Cultural-Sports Association in the countdown to the 7th Transcostablanca Race to be held on Monday, May 4. As explained at this meeting by the president of the Association, Sergio Sánchez and Luis Queralta, this race started in 2021, in the midst of the pandemic, with a group of 5-6 firefighters who took on this challenge of running or cycling the 42-kilometre distance that separates the Benidorm fire station from El Campello beach. 7 years later, there are more than 50 firefighters from all over the province who participate in this challenge that, in addition, has added a solidarity cause in its last editions by making visible the support for people affected by ALS disease.
“From Finestrat we are very proud to be part of the history of this race, the Transcostablanca, with a refreshment stop in our Cove. We will see them there on Monday, May 4, around 9:00 a.m. A whole platoon of runners and cyclists, all firefighters, to value sport and, at the same time, support families affected by ALS,” said the Mayor at this reception.
In this sense, the Association reported that on June 7 there will be a popular race open to the participation of all audiences in support of ALS patients.
