05/05/2026More than a race. It is a feeling of teamwork, overcoming and making ALS disease visible.
50 firefighters from all over the province are running today in the 7th Transcostablanca race organized by the Benidorm Firefighters Cultural-Sports Association. Departing from the fire station in Benidorm, they make a refreshment stop at Cala de Finestrat. There they were received by the Councilor for Beach, Estela Álvarez and the mayor of Social Services, Mª Teresa Pérez, before continuing on their way to El Campello.
This race started in 2021, in the midst of the pandemic, with a group of 5-6 firefighters who took on this challenge of running or cycling the 42-kilometre distance that separates the Benidorm fire station from El Campello beach.
7 years later, there are more than 50 firefighters from all over the province who participate in this challenge that, in addition, has added a solidarity cause in its last editions by making visible the support for people affected by ALS disease.
