The young athlete of the Finestrat Taekwondo Club, Jairo Agenjo, Absolute European Taekwondo Champion

The young athlete from Finestrat, Jairo Agenjo, was proclaimed this Thursday in Munich Absolute European Taekwondo Champion in the -54 kg category. Gold medal for the young man of the Finestrat Taekwondo Club after beating the Italian Gaetano Cirivello 2-0, with partials of 14-7 and 19-7.

To reach this final, Agenjo has previously defeated Estonian taekwondo athlete Fayez Hanafy in the round of 16, Turkey’s Kaan Yelaldi in the quarterfinals and Greece’s Aristeidis Nikolaos Psarros in the semifinals of the competition.

Jairo Agenjo, 18, is a European junior champion and won bronze at the last U-21 European Championship. This championship represents his first participation in a major senior competition. “And it couldn’t have finished better by winning gold and the senior European title. We couldn’t be prouder. An impeccable, spectacular career and a fantastic projection for Finestrat through sport”. It should be remembered that Jairo Agenjo was recognized with the Golden Shield of Finestrat for his sports career in the world of taekwondo.
