The CASA DE LA CULTURA is, since its opening in March 1995, the main cultural center of Finestrat and is located at Carrer Fonteta, 14.
With 30 years of existence, hundreds of men and women, girls and boys, the elderly and young have passed through its classrooms, stages, and multipurpose spaces. Theatre, debates, cinema, galas, concerts and presentations.
Beyond being a window to cultural creation and exhibition, the House of Culture is the permanent headquarters of three of the most lively cultural associations in our municipality.
- Puig Campana Musical Centre, with its School of Music.
- Finestrat Choral Group.
- Rondalla Cordes i Veus Font del Molí.
In the same building is the JOVE ROOM. It is an open-plan space for the celebration of events organized by the Festival Commission, as well as other activities organized by the City Council of Finestrat.
There are other spaces where the Department of Culture carries out its program of cultural activities, especially in the summer season, in order to bring culture closer to the largest number of people and enjoy the benefits of our municipality.
- Auditori El Castell, at the top of the historic centre where the Hermitage of Finestrat is located.
- Plaça de l'Àmfora, on the seashore, in La Cala de Finestrat.
- Plaça del Poble behind the Church of Sant Bertomeu.
To apply for the ASSEMBLY HALL OR YOUTH ROOM of the House of Culture , you can do it electronically through the General Instance or by Entry Registration at the Finestrat City Council or at the Administrative Extension of La Cala.
The MUSEU DE FINESTRAT is located in the Miguel Llorca Park in the historic centre and was recognised as such by the Department of Education and Sport of the Generalitat Valenciana on 12 January 2004.
The Museu de Finestrat is a complex that houses two buildings.
One of them houses THE ETHNOLOGY COLLECTION: an old farmhouse where the life of our ancestors at the end of the nineteenth century is faithfully reproduced.
Next to it, a newly built building, where we find, on the first floor, the ARCHAEOLOGY COLLECTION recovered in different excavations in our municipality: a journey through history from the first settlements of the Upper Palaeolithic to the traces of cultures as significant as the Iberians, Romans or Arabs until the Christian conquest during the fourteenth century.
On the ground floor of this building we find the TEMPORARY EXHIBITION HALL. A space that also sometimes hosts the presentation of books, as well as various conferences scheduled by the Department of Culture of the City of Finestrat.
To request the exhibition hall I could send an email to the address cultura@finestrat.org

PROCEDURES FOR THE VALENCIANIZATION OF THE NAME OR SURNAME
According to current legislation, people who want to adapt the spelling of their name or surname to Valencian have to go to the Civil Registry in which they were registered and request it from the person in charge.
The procedures are different depending on whether it is a first name or a surname, as indicated below.
NAMES OR PRENOUNS
Replacement of the name registered in any language with the equivalent in Valencian or correction of the misspelling of the name
The Valencianization of the name is a quick and simple procedure. You only have to submit the application to the Civil Registry where you are registered (if there is no one in the town, the application is submitted to the justice of the peace or to the town hall).
Examples:
• Angels instead of Angels
• Vincent instead of Vincent
• Joan instead of John
The Vocabulary of Names of Persons published by the AVL in 2017 is of a normative and official nature.
It can be consulted HERE
Therefore, the Valencian names that appear and their equivalence in Spanish must be considered fully correct for the purposes of making the registration in the Civil Registry.
SURNAMES OR LINEAGES
Correction of the erroneous spelling or adaptation to the current spelling regulations of Valencian surnames
The procedure for correcting the erroneous spelling or adapting Valencian surnames to the current spelling regulations is also a very simple process. The application must be submitted to the Civil Registry where you are registered (if there is no one in the town, the application is submitted to the justice of the peace or the town hall) and provide a report that proves the linguistic correctness of the surname.
The Valencian Academy of Language, as the competent regulatory body in the field of name days, provides interested persons with a report on the correction of the proposed form of the surname.
Examples:
• Llorenç instead of Llorens
• Alemany instead of Alemañ.
• Paià instead of Payá.
For more information, see also Civil Registry. You can consult Here (Other procedures. Change of name and/or surname).
Legal Grounds
• Articles 3.2 and 3.3 of the preliminary title of the Spanish Constitution of 1978.
• Article 6 of the Valencian Statute of Autonomy of 2006.
• Law 4/1983 of 23 November, on the Use and Teaching of Valencian.
• Regulations for the Promotion and Encouragement of Valencian for the municipality of Finestrat and its City Council.
Ordinance No. 23.
