THE MAYOR, JUANFRAN PÉREZ LLORCA, PRESENTS AT FITUR ALL THE TOURIST POTENTIAL OF FINESTRAT WITH THIS INNOVATIVE VIRTUAL TECHNOLOGY
Finestrat presents all its tourism potential at FITUR with a new concept in tourism promotion: Finestrat Virtual Tourism Space. It is an experience through virtual reality glasses that allows visitors and professionals in the sector to see and visit all the tourist offer of Finestrat, from the historic center, La Cala, sports, festivals, Puig Campana and the commercial and leisure proposal of the boulevard.

“We are the first City Council in the Valencian Community to present our tourist offer with this innovative technology through immersive and augmented reality glasses. It is about showing the incredible tourist resources that we have in Finestrat. A new way of communicating in which our visitors can immerse themselves in the experience of being, seeing and, above all, discovering the great tourist values of Finestrat.” This is how he pronounced the mayor, Juanfran Pérez Llorca in the presentation of “Finestrat Virtual Tourism Space” held today within the framework of FITUR, at the “Costa Blanca” stand, with the presence of the Councilor for Tourism, Donna R. Plummer and the 1st Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Culture, Nati Algado.

During the days of FITUR, Finestrat offers access to this platform with XR Technology (a term that combines Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality). The visit with the glasses allows you to discover several sections: from the most emblematic places of the historic center, the iconic image of the hanging houses over La Penya, to walking along the paths of the emblematic Puig Campana mountain, La Cala with crystal clear waters and fine sand, as well as the sports possibilities, golf, beach volleyball, parties, tradition and leisure such as “shopping” on its commercial boulevard, one of the largest in the entire Community.
An experience that the President of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, was also able to live today together with the mayor of Finestrat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca.

With the implementation of this technological tool, the City Council will enhance the tourism promotion of Finestrat at the different national and international tourism fairs. In addition, it will be an added resource for promotion within the same municipality, informing about the tourist offer in different parts of the town such as the Tourist Info themselves and spaces with a large influx of public such as the Shopping Boulevard.
A tourist offer that is also present in the large digital cube installed in the Plaza de Callao in the nerve centre of Madrid.
Q FOR QUALITY and S FOR SUSTAINABILITY
In addition, within the framework of FITUR 2025, the Museu de Finestrat receives this Thursday the Q distinction awarded by the Institute of Spanish Tourism Quality (ICTE) in recognition of the City Council’s efforts to promote certified tourism Quality and Sustainability. And on Friday the ICTE also awards the S for Sustainability badge to the Tourist Info of La Cala.
It should be noted that Finestrat was one of the first municipalities in the Valencian Community to become a Smart Tourist Destination in 2016. Today it is at the maximum level within the national DTI network along with destinations such as Seville, Bilbao or Malaga. In addition, it is recognised by the Generalitat as a Tourist Municipality of Excellence. And in 2024 it won the Sustainable Village Award.
In this line, it should be remembered that the Destination Tourism Sustainability Projects are underway, with which Finestrat achieved €3 million from the Destination Tourism Sustainability Plans (2021 call) within the EU Next Generation funds.
Among the actions underway and imminent start is the elevator from the Plaça de la Unió Europea to the Castell where the Hermitage is located. “An action to facilitate access to residents and tourists to the highest part of the historic center and that will revitalize one of the oldest areas of our municipality”; also the intelligent LED ornamental lighting, the improvement of the access road to the historic center and the green ring that will value the pedestrian and bicycle traffic under the hanging houses over La Penya.
“In short, from La Cala to the historic center we are committed to a more sustainable, more accessible and more innovative destination,” summarized the mayor. (PRESS OFFICE.22.1.2025)
