First collaboration agreement between the Finestrat City Council and the UNED
20/05/2026The City Council of Finestrat and the Finestrat Taekwondo Club have renewed their collaboration agreement with the aim of continuing to promote the sports activity of the entity and support the participation of its athletes in national and international competitions. This was recorded by signing the agreement between the Mayor, Nati Algado and the director of the Club, Juan José González, with the presence of the Councilor for Sports, Beatriz Quintillán. 
The mayor of the sports area of Finestrat valued the importance of maintaining this support for local sport. “The Finestrat Taekwondo Club has been developing for years an exemplary trajectory both in sports training and in the transmission of values among the youngest. From the City Council we want to continue accompanying this effort and contribute so that our young athletes can compete in the best conditions,” said Beatriz Quintillán.
The agreement includes an economic contribution of €20,000 for general expenses and another €25,000 to cover the costs of collective sports transport, as has been done with the other sports clubs. This amount has the general objective of helping the club to meet expenses derived from its competitive calendar such as travel, insurance, licenses, equipment, material, accommodation and registrations in regional, national and international competitions, where the members of the club represent the municipality in high-level sporting events.
Likewise, the mayor stressed that “many of these competitions involve an important economic effort for families and for the club itself, so this agreement is a fundamental tool to facilitate their participation”.
The club has a solid track record and athletes who have obtained outstanding results in regional, national and international championships, taking the name of Finestrat to different points inside and outside the country. “We only have to remember the recent title of Senior Absolute European Champion achieved by Jairo Agenjo in Munich (Germany). One more title that adds to the spectacular record presented by the Club and that brings it, step by step, closer to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games”.
With this renewal, the City Council reaffirms its commitment to grassroots sport and local sports entities as an engine of coexistence, training and promotion of healthy lifestyle habits.
