The solemn procession of Sant Bertomeu and the fireworks display puts the finishing touch to the 2026 Patron Saint Festivities
27/08/2026The Department of Animal Protection of Finestrat has disseminated a series of guidelines with the aim of helping to protect pets and avoid the greatest nuisance during fireworks. As the councilor of the area, Estela Álvarez, pointed out, “the Patron Saint Festivities are days to enjoy, share and celebrate… although we cannot forget those who live these days in a very different way: our pets. Pyrotechnics can generate fear, anxiety and disorientation. For this reason, as Councilor for Animal Protection we call on pet owners to inform themselves in detail of the program of events of our Patron Saint Festivities and especially of the schedules of pyrotechnic events such as the mascletàs, the bombings, the correfocs or the fireworks castle “.
The program can be consulted physically at municipal offices and Tourism offices; online on social networks of the City Council, Finestrat Tourism and at this LINK.
Among the tips disseminated from this Department is:
Create a safe and quiet area, with their bed and toys.
Close doors, windows, blinds, and curtains to reduce noise and prevent them from escaping.
Play relaxing music or white noise to muffle the noises.
During walks, never let go. Always use a leash and check that the collar or harness is properly fastened to prevent them from escaping in case of pyrotechnics.
And very important: keep your identification updated, with the microchip and your data up to date.
“The purpose is that we can all enjoy safe and respectful festivities for everyone,” concluded the councilor, Estela Álvarez.
