“Kids on the move”: New initiative from the Finestrat Sports Department for the 2026-2027 season
10/09/2026The Finestrat Youth Centre extends its opening hours and launches a new weekly program to fill the afternoons of local children and youth with activities.
11/09/2026The Finestrat Town Council is reinforcing its commitment to mountain sports and the promotion of healthy lifestyles through its collaboration with the Reto 8000 Mountain Club. The agreement was signed by the acting Mayor, Víctor D. Llinares, and the Club’s President, José Antonio Alejo, and was also attended by the Councilor for Sports, Beatriz Quintillán, and the Club’s Technical Director, Romualdo Domenech. With this agreement, the council supports the organization and development of the “Puig Campana Vertical Kilometer” and “Lurbel Finestrat Costa Blanca Trails” races, both part of the 2026 edition.
“The sporting and tourist interest generated by these well-established events on the Finestrat mountain running calendar is key, attracting more participants each year from across Spain and internationally. These races undoubtedly contribute to promoting Finestrat as a destination for outdoor sports and generating economic activity and growth in the municipality. said the acting mayor, Víctor D. Llinares.
The agreement provides €35,000 to help cover the costs of planning, organizing, and running the races, including course preparation and marking, participant and volunteer coordination, safety measures, timing, refreshments, logistics, temporary infrastructure, and communication and promotional activities. The municipal collaboration also emphasizes the responsible use of the Puig Campana natural environment, ensuring that these sporting events are always compatible with environmental protection and the necessary safety and conservation measures.
With this agreement, Finestrat continues to support sport as a tool for promoting health, revitalizing the municipality and boosting tourism, backing sporting events that highlight Puig Campana and the natural environment as spaces for responsible sporting practice.
For the upcoming edition of the Finestrat Lurbel Costa Blanca Trails, taking place from November 13th to 15th, bib numbers for several race distances, such as the 20K and 17K, have already sold out. “We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity, as bib numbers are still available in some races. The Lurbel Finestrat Costa Blanca Trails route offers participants some of the most breathtaking views of this region: the Mediterranean Sea nestled among the mountains, the silhouette of our iconic Puig Campana mountain, trails through pine forests, endless ridges, and towns that have preserved their unique character.”
