27/08/2026The Department of Equality has received from the Alicante Provincial Council a subsidy of an amount of € 1,983,760 within the call “Subsidies to City Councils and EATIM for the preparation and evaluation of gender equality plans, 2026”
The Department of Equality of the City of Finestrat formalizes its adhesion to the “LGTBIQ+phobia free space” of the Valencian Community. A proposal approved unanimously in the last municipal plenary session.
This proposal values municipal and social diversity and commits to reject all types of behaviour and conduct constituting harassment on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity and/or gender expression, in order to ensure that all people belonging to the LGTBIQ+ collective enjoy a space free of LGTBIQ+ phobia.
The LGTBIQ+phobia Free Space Protocol of the Valencian Community is also included in order to guarantee safe and respectful environments for all people, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity or expression. Adherence to this recognition entails the commitment on the part of the Finestrat City Council to publicize the existence of this protocol in the relevant areas of action, with an indication of its compliance to people who visit or work in our facilities or online.
The recognition as LGBTIQ+phobia-Free Spaces of the Generalitat Valenciana responds to the desire to consolidate a municipal environment based on respect, equality and democratic coexistence, reinforcing the prevention of any form of discrimination or violence against LGTBIQ+ people.
The City Council of Finestrat assumes that the protection of the rights of LGTBIQ+ people is an essential element to guarantee a democratic coexistence based on respect, equality and dignity of all people. The recognition of our city council as a Space Free of LGTBIQ+phobia is a further step in the normalization, protection and enhancement of diversity, favoring that all people can develop their lives with safety, dignity and full equality
On the other hand, the same Department of Equality has received from the Alicante Provincial Council a subsidy of an amount of € 1,983,760 within the call “Subsidies to City Councils and EATIM for the preparation and evaluation of Gender Equality Plans, 2026” for the evaluation of the I Municipal Equality Plan.
