The City Council undertakes the fine-tuning of the educational centers with works such as renovating the roof of the CEIP Balcó de Finestrat

The action, with an investment of more than 54,000 euros, will be carried out during the summer period so that the building is in perfect condition for the next school year

Since the end of the school year, the Finestrat City Council has launched maintenance work in the town’s educational centers. One of the largest actions is the rehabilitation works of the roof of the CEIP Balcó de Finestrat. This work is intended to solve the water leaks detected in different rooms of the educational center and guarantee the correct conservation of the facilities.

In the words of the Mayor, Nati Algado, “education is one of the priorities of this government team and that is why we continue to invest in the maintenance and improvement of our educational centers. These works will definitively solve a problem that affected several dependencies of the school and will guarantee that both students and teachers have facilities in the best possible conditions. We take advantage of the holiday period to carry out this action and reaffirm our commitment to the conservation and modernization of the educational spaces of Finestrat,” said Nati Algado during her visit with the mayor of Education, Beatriz Quintillán.

The works are being carried out on the flat roof of the school canteen wing and in the Early Childhood Education area, where rainwater leaks were located. The action will allow this circumstance to be definitively resolved through a comprehensive intervention on the affected roofs.

It should be remembered that the building is more than fifteen years old and the roofs, especially exposed to atmospheric agents, have suffered some deterioration. At the moment, the waterproofing works are being carried out, which consist of the replacement of the waterproofing sheet, betting on a comprehensive solution that avoids future incidents. Likewise, at the end of the works, a watertightness test will be carried out to check the correct functioning of the new roof and guarantee the effectiveness of the intervention.

The investment for this action exceeds 55,000 euros. The execution period will be extended until the end of August, coinciding with the summer period. And it will be in phases, combining the works with the development of the Municipal Summer School. The aim is to have the building in optimal condition for the start of the next academic year 2026-2027.

With this action, the City Council of Finestrat continues to bet on the improvement and conservation of municipal educational infrastructures, guaranteeing safer, more comfortable and adequate spaces for students, teachers and the educational community as a whole.
