07/04/2026The V VOLABOLA Finestrat Cup smashes all the records since it began its journey: Almost 900 players, surpassing the teams of 2025 by a hundred; 88 teams, 6 more than last year. Ahead, 2 intense sports days in the sports area of La Foia with more than 2,000 visitors as they are players between the ages of 13 and 18, who come to the town with their families.
In addition to the sports projection, it also has a recreational dimension with music, DJ, xirimita, inflatables, barbecue and the special program of ornamental lighting of La Penya, among other attractions of these days. The Mayor, Nati Algado, the First Deputy Mayor, Víctor Darío Llinares and the Councilor for Sports, Beatriz Quintillán, were at the La Foia sports complex to follow the development of the tournament, together with the technical coordinator of the Finestrat Volleyball Club, Juan Vicente Llinares, the president of the Club, Rebeca Fernández, among other councilors of the corporation.
“We are talking about one of the largest recreational-sporting events in Spain, dedicated to grassroots volleyball, with simultaneous matches over 2 marathon days. And a real celebration of sport. It is the VolaBola Finestrat and we are very excited because we are once again breaking participation records with almost 90 teams from all over Spain”. Also noteworthy is the presence of the Finestrat Volleyball Club with 12 local teams, 100 players. “which demonstrates the excellent moment of the Club, the consolidation of the Finnish quarry, with this high representation in the VolaBola Tournament”.
In figures, the Volabola Tournament concentrates 180 matches in 36 hours, played on 9 volleyball courts enabled the artificial turf field and 3 courts for simultaneous matches in the municipal pavilion.
In terms of schedules, the competition is played on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 00:00 a.m. On Saturday 4 the competition resumes at 9:30 a.m. until the finals conclude on Saturday afternoon. There will be medals on Saturday, around 1:00 p.m. and, in the afternoon, at 6:00 p.m.
The mayor, Nati Algado, said that “we are facing a first-class sporting event. The Volabola Tournament is a true Festival of Sport and, in addition, of the Base Sport that is essential for this City Council. “Once again VolaBola is synonymous with success and projection because we are making our municipality known through Sport with the attendance of more than 2,500 people in the middle of Holy Week”. Within the program, the Department of Tourism has also included the guided tour “Discover Finestrat” with prior reservation on WhatsApp 648 653 219.
In terms of results, the Finestrat club achieves the best results in the history of the Tournament.
