April 22. National Cystic Fibrosis Day
21/04/2026After talking about the reinforcement of self-esteem and the inappropriate use of social networks, the RACÓ DE MARES I PARES of Finestrat returns to address the prevention of BULLYING and CYBERBULLYING. It will be this Friday, April 24, at 4:00 p.m., at the Finestrat Youth Center (carrer Fonteta, 36).

The uniqueness of this activity promoted by the Department of Youth under the title “Child Health Prevention Workshops” is that on the same day they work directly with students of 4th, 5th and 6th grade of Primary and also with families. In this way, in the morning in the classrooms they will deal with the following concepts:
• How to identify bullying behaviors, foster empathy, promote the role of “active bystander” and foster a climate of respect and mutual support in the classroom, strengthening positive behaviors that protect the group and prevent bullying and cyberbullying.
In the afternoon, in the call to families, they will be provided with keys to detect these cases of harassment and/or cyberbullying, how to support them and how to stop it.
“With these spaces for communication both in the classroom and with families, we believe that we can help a lot to clarify doubts and promote a positive climate of communication at home on topics such as those we addressed in the last sessions, reinforcement of self-esteem or use of social networks. And now, in this next edition, how to deal with cases of harassment and cyberbullying” , reported the Councilor for Children and Youth, Sara Llorca. “Prevention involves coordinated actions between family, school and society: education in values, responsible use of the internet, clear protocols of action and encouraging young people to ask for help without fear.”

The prevention of bullying and cyberbullying is essential because it not only avoids situations of immediate suffering, but also protects the emotional, social and academic development of children and adolescents in the long term.
It has been shown that bullying can cause anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and even self-injurious behaviors. Preventing it means acting before these effects become profound and long-lasting. Victims often have difficulty concentrating, fear of attending class, and a decline in academic performance. Unlike traditional bullying, cyberbullying can occur at any time and spread quickly through social media or apps. This amplifies the emotional damage and makes it harder to escape the situation. The prevention of these actions promotes a safe and positive school climate, reinforces emotional skills such as empathy and self-esteem, reduces conflicts and improves coexistence, among others.
